THEIR FINEST ★★★★Behind the scenes of the British film industry, post-Dunkirk, is the setting for this gentle romantic comedy, in which Gemma Arterton’s spirited Welsh typist “shoots up the ranks” to write scripts for wartime propaganda films. The cast, including Richard E Grant, Helen McCrory and Eddie Marsan, is terrific but Bill Nighy (not for the first time) provides the titters (and steals the picture) as a self-absorbed ham. THE ZOOKEEPER’S WIFE ★★★The real-life wartime story of the Polish couple who hid Warsaw ghetto Jews among the animals of their zoo is the meat of this drama from Whale Rider director Niki Caro.
